Supplementation

As I progress along on my 12 Week Challenge, some of you may be curious to know what I am supplementing with. The Supplements that I am using are described below:

Vitamins:
alive.jpgI am supplementing with a multivitamin called Alive. I like Alive because it’s a plant based multivitamin whose entire contents can be 100% readily and easily absorbed into the system. This is more than can be said for generic over the counter multi vitamins whose absorption rate is probably between 25 – 50%.

For the most part no one a day multi vitamins and minerals work in isolation and their function is interdependent. Whole supplementation with vitamins & minerals is the only effective way to ensure that all the essential interactions take place and this is why high-quality multi vitamins and mineral supplements are usually needed. Very few one a day multi vitamins and multi vitamins available today contain ingredients that are more than minimally bioavailable. Bioavailability is a gauge of how much of a particular substance can be absorbed by your body. Not all vitamins and minerals are alike and some are absorbed better than others. For this reason, I recommend Alive multivitamin because of it’s high bioavailable rating.

Whey Protein
whey.jpgYou need adequate protein to build muscle. 100% Greens & Whey powder contains 100% pure Ultra-Filtered/Micro-Filtered (UF/MF) Whey Protein Isolate. The Micro-Filtration method isolates the natural whey proteins in a highly concentrated form without fat or lactose providing the quickest and most easily absorbed form of protein- no bloating, gas or stomach upset. High BCAA levels send fuel directly to your muscles while supporting positive nitrogen balance for muscle growth.

Adequate nutrition keeps the body healthy. The 100% Greens & Whey blend provides phytonutrients which offer the purest form of nutrition. This protein powder also contains the following superfoods:

1. Organic alfalfa Leaf Juice Powder and Organic Barley Grass Juice Powder are rich in chlorophyll and along with other nutrients play an important role in supporting the digestive processes and nutrient assimilation.
2. Hawaiian Spirulina draws nutrients from Pacific deep water. No other Spirulina is grown with such a rich nutrient source. It is highly digestible and provides a wide range of delicate phytonutrients which play an important role in helping the body combat environmental stressors.
3. Organic Sun Chlorella, Organic Broccoli Sprout and Sea Buckthorn also provide excellent nutrient sources.

I like this protein powder because it tastes great and has no artificial ingredients. If you need protein supplementation, this is the way to go. It is also advisable to buy all your supplements online. The online vendor that I like to use is Vitacost. Everything is probably half of what you would pay at GNC or VitaminShoppe. Give it a go.
